Moving Home

When moving home, buying or selling a property it can be difficult to know where to start. There seems to be so much to do and organise and it can feel a little overwhelming. Once you have appointed your conveyancing solicitor there are lots of things you can do to help make moving day go smoothly.

Speed things up by answering any questions your conveyancer has quickly. They might not be able to proceed until you have answered their questions. Fill in any forms and documents as soon as you can. Do your ID checks early, these are a legal requirement for anyone involved.

Get your paperwork together. If you are selling and have done any work on the property get receipts, guarantees, planning permission etc ready. Start to think about the fixtures and fittings you are prepared to leave or sell. If you property is leasehold gather information about the leaseholder and any management company.

Start to pack as soon as you can and label the boxes clearly. Book removals in plenty of time.

Think about someone looking after the kids and pets on moving day. Pack an essentials box containing daily medications, plasters, screw drivers and chargers.
